I just saw a message that this year might face a global food shortage.

Currently, the combined capacity of Iran, Qatar, and Saudi Arabia accounts for about 25% of global urea exports, and about 45% of sulfur( and phosphorus fertilizer).
Meanwhile, one-third of global fertilizer is transported by sea, 46% urea, and nearly 50% of sulfur transportation have also been disrupted due to the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz.
Especially because a nitrogen ammonium nitrate plant in Russia was blown up by those from the other side, and natural gas( and urea—also the raw material for nitrogen fertilizer)—are now also rising.
At present, China also doesn’t allow the export of urea and these fertilizers; however, thanks to our industrial capacity, the self-sufficiency issue is not a big one.
Now it’s 4.13, and the spring plowing and fertilizing window in the mid- to low-latitudes of the Northern Hemisphere has already ended; especially with the situation in South Asia and Southeast Asia getting worse, especially India’s reliance on 40%-44% urea, phosphorus fertilizers, and 85% of industrial natural gas imports from the Middle East—this year’s production cuts are basically set in stone 🤣
Trump is trying to make the world so hungry that the streets are full of starving people everywhere, and the impact on poorer countries will be even greater!
Is this damn thing going to make food get crazily traded like precious metals and crude oil too? 😂😂
