Just spent some time looking into the most affordable places to live in the US and honestly found some pretty interesting patterns. Apparently Ohio is dominating right now - like 7 of the top 15 cheapest safe cities are there. New Philadelphia caught my attention, monthly mortgage around $1,100 and super low violent crime. There's also New Ulm in Minnesota if you want something different, and San Elizario Texas is wild - under $1,000 monthly mortgage with basically no violent crime.
What surprised me most is how these affordable communities actually have solid livability scores despite the low cost. Most of them are in the 70-90 range. Columbus Indiana and Trenton Michigan especially stood out. The data's based on crime stats, home values, and actual cost of living data so it's not just random.
If you're seriously looking to relocate and want both affordability and safety, these most affordable places to live in the US seem worth actually researching. The Midwest especially seems to have the best combo right now. Curious if anyone here has lived in any of these towns?
