I just paid attention to a pretty important news about Magic Eden—one of the largest NFT platforms. It seems they are implementing a pretty thorough "pivot," but not everyone fully understands what’s happening.

The truth is, Magic Eden isn’t disappearing entirely, but they have decided to stop supporting bitcoin (Ordinals/Runes) and EVM chains like Ethereum, Polygon, Avalanche. Instead, they are focusing entirely on Solana—where they previously handled most of their transactions. This move reflects a larger trend: big blockchain projects also need to cut costs to survive.

I find this quite logical. Managing a multi-chain "empire" consumes too many resources. By retreating, Magic Eden can concentrate their engineering team on what actually has users. They are also betting on a new gaming/gambling platform called Dicey, along with an upcoming token $ME .

But the issue is: if you have assets on Magic Eden, you need to act immediately. There are some important deadlines:

March 2026: Bitcoin and EVM NFT trading officially ends. April 1: Magic Eden wallet switches to "export-only" mode (cannot send/receive, only view). May 1: Fully shut down—app will be removed from the app store.

The way to protect your assets is very simple:

1. Export your seed phrase (seed phrase) from your Magic Eden wallet
2. Import it into a compatible new wallet (MetaMask for EVM, Xverse for bitcoin)
3. If you have Solana NFTs, consider cold storage for high-value assets

The sad part is, the token $ME has dropped about 87% over the past year (currently $0.11), so recovery will be very difficult. Magic Eden is betting on becoming a leader at the intersection of finance and gaming, but the road ahead is not easy.

By the way, if you’re interested in other markets, Gate remains a good option to follow crypto projects and assets.
