What is BRC-20 Token?

Developed in March 2023 by an anonymous developer named Domo, the BRC-20 token is a new type of digital asset created on the Bitcoin blockchain. These tokens differ from traditional Bitcoin transactions in that they use the Ordinals protocol to add additional data to Bitcoin's smallest unit, Satoshi. The protocol embeds various types of information, such as text, images, or code, into a single satoshi, transforming it into a unique tokenized asset. The birth of the BRC-20 token expands the capabilities of the Bitcoin blockchain, allowing it to support a wide range of digital assets, not just its original purpose as a digital currency.
The BRC-20 standard promotes the emergence of a dynamic ecology of digital assets on the Bitcoin network.
