Why do you always need to play defense in trading?

Many people only think about how much they can earn, but rarely consider: what if I'm wrong?

In reality, the market never moves exactly as you expect. Volatility, surprises, emotions, news—any small change can turn a smooth position into a passive one.

So-called defense isn't about being timid or lacking confidence. It's about showing basic respect for your own capital.

Trading without defense is like driving without a seatbelt or not slowing down in the rain.
When things go smoothly, it feels irrelevant, but once you hit a sudden problem, one mistake can wipe out all your previous efforts.

Playing defense gives you an exit:
When you're wrong, stop in time—don't hold stubbornly, don't trade out of frustration, don't add to the position;
When you're right, ride the trend, and profits will naturally follow.

Trading isn't about being aggressive for a moment, but about being stable for the long run.
Those who can control risk can go the distance;
Those who understand defense deserve to be profitable.

May we all stay clear-headed, disciplined, and principled,
Protect the principal first, then talk about returns.
