ChainCatcher Update - According to Xinhua News Agency, Ho Yaodong, spokesperson for the Ministry of Commerce, responded to questions about China’s review of Meta’s acquisition of artificial intelligence platform Manus by stating that the Chinese government has consistently supported enterprises in conducting mutually beneficial cross-border operations and international technology cooperation in accordance with law and regulations.
It should be noted that enterprises engaging in outbound investment, technology exports, data cross-border transfers, cross-border mergers and acquisitions and other activities must comply with Chinese laws and regulations and fulfill statutory procedures. The Ministry of Commerce will work with relevant departments to conduct assessment and investigation on the consistency of this acquisition with export control, technology import-export, outbound investment and other relevant laws and regulations.
