Trump : pas envisager de gracier SBF

BlockBeats message, on January 9, US President Trump explicitly stated during an interview with The New York Times that he would not consider pardoning FTX founder Sam Bankman-Fried (SBF). SBF was convicted in 2023 on multiple charges including misappropriation of customer funds and financial fraud, marking one of the most emblematic criminal cases in crypto industry history.

During the interview, Trump mentioned that when asked by reporters about the possibility of presidential pardons for several high-profile incarcerated individuals, SBF was among those listed but was explicitly ruled out. Trump indicated that he had no intention of exercising pardon powers for SBF and related individuals.

The report also revealed that musician Sean Combs (Diddy) had written to Trump requesting a pardon, but was similarly rejected. In contrast, Trump has indeed exercised pardon powers in recent years for some political allies or individuals who support his narrative of “politicized justice,” but SBF is not within his consideration.

Analysis points out that Trump’s statement indicates that in the foreseeable future, the possibility of SBF obtaining early release through presidential pardon is extremely low, and his criminal liability and civil litigation processes will continue, continuing to have profound impacts on compliance and regulatory discussions within the crypto industry.
