According to Iraq’s border port authority, 70 tanker trucks carrying crude oil entered Syria via the Rabia border crossing on May 2, marking the country’s first use of this land route in 13 years. The crossing, located in northwestern Nineveh Province near Iraq’s Mosul and Kirkuk oil fields, reopened in April after remaining closed since Syria’s civil war began in 2011.
