According to ChainCatcher, Solana Labs co-founder Anatoly Yakovenko stated that permissionless systems must allow users to participate in any part of the protocol stack without requiring approval from trusted third parties. He criticized Base and Hyperliquid for failing to meet this standard, noting that users cannot run their sequencers, a limitation he views as inconsistent with true permissionless design.
