In response to the increasingly severe food crisis in South Sudan leading to child hunger and malnutrition, Gate Charity has joined hands with World Vision to launch the "South Sudan Child Hunger and Malnutrition Relief Project," providing emergency food assistance, medical aid, and long-term livelihood support to vulnerable children and families in the region, aiming to save lives and rekindle hope in the places that need help the most.

Global food production is sufficient to feed everyone, yet 783 million people still live in hunger. Among them, South Sudan is one of the most severely affected regions, where food insecurity has reached an unprecedented level of severity. More than 6 million people nationwide are facing severe hunger, and over 40% of children are suffering from stunting due to malnutrition, even facing life-threatening situations. This is not just a crisis; it is a daily struggle for survival.

Emergency Nutritional Assistance: Saving Lives on the Brink of Hunger

To address the serious issue of child malnutrition, Gate Charity is working with World Vision to provide ready-to-use therapeutic food (RUTF) for children in urgent need of help, ensuring they receive the basic nutrition required to sustain life. In addition, this project also deploys mobile medical relief vehicles to reach refugee camps and disaster-affected communities, providing essential medicines, vitamins, and health care support to children and families facing extreme shortages of medical resources.

With soaring food prices and large-scale population displacements, more and more families are unable to access basic food and face a survival crisis. In response, the project also provides direct food assistance and financial support to displaced families, helping them to meet their most basic nutritional needs and ensuring that children no longer go hungry.

At one of our mobile medical aid points, twin brothers Adam and Adide were diagnosed with severe malnutrition. From the moment we discovered them, our rescue team has been by their side, closely monitoring their recovery, ensuring they receive the right treatment, and continuously providing nutritional support. No child should have to face the threat of hunger alone, and our efforts are changing this reality.

Empowering Sustainable Livelihoods: Breaking the Vicious Cycle of Hunger and Poverty

Hunger and malnutrition trap millions of lives in a vicious cycle of poverty. When people are in a state of hunger for an extended period, their bodies gradually weaken, making them more susceptible to diseases, which in turn leads to a loss of labor capacity. Entire families become trapped in poverty due to a lack of income sources, unable to escape.

To break this deadly cycle, Gate Charity and World Vision not only provide emergency food aid but also help families achieve long-term food self-sufficiency. The project offers agricultural training, provides drought-resistant crop seeds and farming tools to refugee families, enabling them to master skills in sustainable cultivation and food production. This initiative not only alleviates hunger in the short term but also helps families establish a stable food supply, freeing them from the threat of famine. Through these sustainable interventions, this project not only provides assistance to hungry children and families but also empowers them with hope to see a future again.
