Gate News bot message: The city council of Johnson City, Tennessee will hold a final vote on the zoning change for the crypto asset mining farm this Thursday. Meanwhile, some mining farm operators have hinted that they are still developing plans to relocate to Johnson City.
The proposal will classify data centers, including crypto mining farms, as permitted uses in I-2 heavy industrial zones, while imposing restrictions on buffer zones near residential areas and requiring operations to be conducted within enclosed buildings.
The committee will also vote to decide to suspend the establishment of new businesses in the area for one year, during which Johnson City will formulate stricter noise regulations.
