According to Gate News bot, CNN reported that French President Emmanuel Macron said on Wednesday that the International Atomic Energy Agency must be allowed to resume its “emergency” monitoring work in Iran.

Macron posted on X: “France stands firmly with the International Atomic Energy Agency, which is crucial for nuclear safety and security. We urgently need to allow the agency to resume its mission in Iran.”

Macron also attached a photo of himself with Rafael Grossi, the Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency.

The International Atomic Energy Agency has been promoting the restoration of relations with Iran, which were once interrupted due to unprecedented attacks by Israel on Iranian nuclear facilities starting June 13.

According to Iranian state media, the Iranian parliament voted on Wednesday to suspend cooperation with the United Nations nuclear watchdog.

The decision of the Iranian Islamic Parliament (Majles) needs to be approved by the Supreme National Security Council chaired by President Masoud Pezeshkian.

Iran remains a party to the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT). The treaty aims to monitor and prevent the global spread of nuclear weapons and to promote the peaceful use of nuclear technology. Any non-nuclear-weapon state party is prohibited from developing nuclear weapons.

The mission of the International Atomic Energy Agency is to oversee compliance with the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons.
