Trading activity on decentralized exchanges (DEX) reached a record level in October, confirming the global shift towards on-chain finance. According to data from DeFiLlama, perpetual contract DEXs processed over 1.36 trillion USD, nearly double the record of 759 billion USD set in August.

Hyperliquid leads with 299 billion USD, followed by Lighter (265.4 billion USD) and Aster (259.9 billion USD). This growth reflects traders moving away from centralized exchanges (CEX) in search of more transparent DEXs, lower fees, and direct asset control. Currently, DEXs account for over 20% of global trading volume, a significant increase from under 10% last year.

The surge coincided with the forced liquidation of 20 billion USD following President Trump's statements about tariffs, causing a wave of sell-offs and significant volatility in the market.
