According to Mars Finance, on-chain analyst Willy Woo tweeted that in the future, the “Quantum Computer Era” may allow the Public Key to be reverse-engineered to obtain the Private Key, leading to asset risks. Currently, Taproot addresses starting with “bc1p” are not quantum-safe, while SegWit addresses starting with “bc1q” still have protective capabilities. He advises users to transfer BTC to SegWit or legacy format addresses and to avoid spending before upgrading to quantum-safe protocols to prevent exposure of the Public Key. Woo predicts that the Bitcoin network will complete its quantum safety upgrade in about 7 years, while the quantum threat may arise as early as after 2030.
