At the meeting on November 14 in Minsk, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko stated that cryptocurrency could be one of the options to help the world fall dependent on the dollar. He spoke in the context of Belarus evaluating the effectiveness of the Belarusian nuclear power plant, increasing electricity demand, and plans to expand new nuclear capacity.

The President requested a report on measures to promote electricity consumption and the development direction of the electricity sector. He cited examples of cryptocurrency mining, electric transportation, and building homes that use electricity entirely as fields that can make good use of the existing energy resources.

Lukashenko admits that cryptocurrency mining can be volatile but believes this is an acceptable risk, especially as the world is looking to reduce dependence on a single currency.
