The odds of Kevin Hassett becoming the next Fed Chair have surged after US President Donald Trump hinted at his choice during an event at the White House, calling him a “potential candidate.” Before this comment, the odds on Kalshi were at 66%, then rose to around 85%; Polymarket also recorded a similar trend.
Hassett is currently the Director of the National Economic Council and is considered crypto-friendly, with a $1 million investment in Coinbase and previous oversight of a digital assets working group. He is seen as one of the candidates to replace Jerome Powell, whose term ends in May 2026.
The US government has stated it wants a more discreet Fed Chair who can help stabilize the market. Although the Fed does not directly regulate cryptocurrencies, its interest rate policies and bank regulations can have a significant impact on the crypto market.
