Trump begins final round of interviews for Fed chair candidates this week, says he already has a suitable candidate in mind.

BlockBeats news, December 10, according to Bloomberg, U.S. President Trump stated that he will begin the final round of interviews for the next Federal Reserve chair this week and will consider several candidates. On Tuesday, Trump told the media aboard Air Force One, “We will consider several different candidates, but I already have a very clear idea of who I want.” White House National Economic Council Director Kevin Hassett remains the leading candidate to succeed Powell as head of the Federal Reserve, but his victory is not a foregone conclusion. Trump recently said he would select the new Fed chair soon, but may wait until early 2026 to make a public announcement. Trump and U.S. Treasury Secretary Besant will meet with former Fed Governor Kevin Warsh on Wednesday, and the two are expected to conduct at least one interview next week.
