AI Video and Audio Startup Mirelo Announces $41 Million Seed Round Led by Andreessen Horowitz (a16z) and Index Ventures, with Atlantic.vc and TriplePoint Capital Participating. This funding will be used to accelerate the development of its video and gaming audio generation models and expand product and team size.
The Mirelo team stated that the company was born out of a passion for sound creation and reflection on the current industry landscape. In the context of generative AI driving a significant reduction in video production costs and rapid content scale expansion, audio has long been overlooked and has become a critical bottleneck in the creative process. Although current video models begin to incorporate default audio, they still fall short in emotional expression, narrative tension, and creative control for professional needs.
Mirelo’s core product is a set of AI foundational models specifically designed for video audio layers. Creators can upload a video and generate a highly synchronized high-quality sound effect draft within seconds, which can then be refined to adjust rhythm, emotion, tone, and tension for use in videos, gaming, social media, and film content production. The company emphasizes that its goal is not to replace creators but to significantly lower the barrier to professional sound design while providing deeper and more flexible control for professional users.
Currently, Mirelo is building an audio generation system for complete workflows, covering various scenarios from rapid creative exploration to large-scale project consistency management. Its long-term vision is to become the “audio layer” for all visual content, injecting stronger emotional expression and immersive experiences into global video and gaming content.
After the funding round, Mirelo is also simultaneously recruiting, focusing on AI research, engineering, product, and marketing roles. As generative video becomes rapidly popular, AI video and audio generation, sound design for videos, and creator tools are emerging as new directions of interest for both capital and industry.
