The Fed chair candidate is not a two-way choice? Waller will undergo an interview

BlockBeats News, December 17 — According to WSJ, sources familiar with the matter revealed that Trump will interview current Federal Reserve Board member Waller on Wednesday local time regarding the Fed Chair nomination. Trump has already interviewed former Fed Board member Kevin Waugh last week. Trump stated that Waugh and Hasset are currently his top two candidates. This year, Waller has become a leading voice within the Fed advocating for rate cuts. At the July meeting where the Fed kept interest rates unchanged, Waller cast a dissenting vote in favor of rate cuts. Waller is considered the most favored candidate for Fed Chair among economists, well-regarded on Wall Street for his clear and consistent arguments supporting rate cuts this year, and seen as capable of bridging the growing divisions within the Fed. Several of his rate cut arguments have been adopted by current Chair Powell. Waller will deliver a speech on the economic outlook on Wednesday evening Beijing time. (Jin10)
