The European Commission plans to issue approximately 90 billion euros in bonds in the first half of next year.

Gold Financial reports that the European Commission announced on December 16th that it plans to issue approximately €90 billion in bonds in the first half of 2026. The funds raised will be used to support Ukraine and provide loans to member states. The relevant funds will be disbursed through programs such as the “NextGeneration EU” plan and the “European Security Action” mechanism. The European Commission stated that between 2024 and 2027, it will provide loans of up to €33 billion to Ukraine. Analysts believe that, given the internal divisions within the EU over using frozen Russian assets to support Ukraine, this large-scale bond issuance plan aims to provide continuous and stable financial support to Ukraine.
