Multiple regions warn about virtual currency "trial card" scams, which lure victims with the guise of "free benefits" to facilitate telecom fraud.

PANews January 7 News, multiple regions including Shanghai, Yunnan, Gansu, and Hainan have issued warnings about the “tasting card” scams involving virtual currencies. Some criminals are disguising their activities as “free benefits” from well-known supermarkets to divert traffic to telecom network fraud crimes. Police explained that the suspects responsible for attracting victims use overseas communication software to connect with scam gangs online. After distributing each “tasting card,” the gang members take photos individually, recording key information such as community addresses, door numbers, and false promotional materials hanging on door handles, then upload this information online. They periodically settle payments with virtual currency, which makes their activities highly clandestine. Authorities remind the public not to participate in such “door-to-door promotion part-time jobs” for small profits, as it could make them accomplices in fraud, and they will bear corresponding legal responsibilities.
