Australian regulators warn Grok over surge in AI image misuse complaints

PANews January 9 News, according to Decrypt, Australian eSafety Commissioner Julie Inman Grant stated that recent complaints about Elon Musk’s AI model Grok generating non-consensual gendered images have doubled compared to the end of 2025, with some involving child pornography content. Grok’s “Spicy Mode” feature has been accused of facilitating AI deepfake abuse and has been deemed illegal by the European Union. Grant emphasized that under Australian regulations, platforms must strengthen oversight of AI-generated content, and eSafety will conduct investigations and take legal actions accordingly.
