Federal Reserve Chair candidate Rick Rieder has long funded Trump's political opponents

Odaily Planet Daily reports that BlackRock executive Rick Rieder is currently one of the top contenders to take over the Federal Reserve, but in the past, he has funded Trump’s main political opponents and senior Democrats. This could be a potential variable in Trump’s appointment of him to lead the Fed, especially considering his emphasis on subordinate “loyalty.” According to Polymarket data, the probability of Rick Rieder being nominated by Trump is 32%.

Federal Election Commission (FEC) data shows that Rick Rieder has a bipartisan donation history, having funded Democrat Pete Buttigieg and Cory Booker in 2020, and supported Jeb Bush in 2016. However, importantly, he has never contributed to Trump in the 2016, 2020, or 2024 elections.

FEC records indicate that Rieder’s donation recipients also include Democratic leaders such as Chuck Schumer, Hakeem Jeffries, and Mark Warner, as well as Republican establishment figures like Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan. His political donation history dates back to 2005, with the largest donation since the 2020 election being $15,825 in December 2023 to a group supporting Nikki Haley.

Rick Rieder and BlackRock have declined to comment. (Jin10)
