Vitalik Buterin: The optimal governance mechanism I'm looking for is impossible to achieve.

Shenchao TechFlow News, on December 15, Ethereum founder Vitalik Buterin replied to a tweet from user X @yishan, who asked him to reply to some things he used to believe in but changed his mind after learning more. He said, ‘I no longer follow math and encryption protocols like I did 10 years ago. Now, I use math to make rough initial guesses and try to avoid the worst-case scenarios, rather than explaining behavior under average conditions.’

Vitalik’s interest in economics is also waning. He wrote: I spent a lot of time in the first five years of the Ethereum world trying to invent a mathematically provable optimal governance mechanism, but eventually found that what I was looking for was impossible to achieve. The most important variables determining the success or failure of the existing flawed system in practice (usually the degree of coordination between subgroups of participants, but also “cultural” factors) were variables that I did not model at the time.
