Gate News message, April 18 — Elon Musk said on April 17 that SpaceX and Tesla are important customers of Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC), not competitors in the traditional sense. Musk noted that TSMC cannot produce the massive volume of chips required, necessitating the “Terafab” chip factory project.

TSMC stated during its earnings call on April 16 that both Intel and Tesla are customers as well as competitors. The clarification comes as TSMC faces growing demand for advanced semiconductors and capacity constraints.
