Gate News message, April 27 — Doug Safreno, co-founder and CEO of AI evaluation and observability platform Gentrace, announced on X that he has joined Anthropic. Gentrace, which helped enterprises test and monitor LLM output quality, secured $8 million in Series A funding led by Matrix (totaling $14 million in funding) before shutting down in late 2025.
Safreno noted that co-founder and CTO Vivek Nair had already joined Anthropic and, along with Yongxing Deng, a colleague at Anthropic, convinced him to follow. Safreno cited Anthropic’s speed and values as key reasons for the move.
