Police Commissioner Yoshinobu Kusuge emphasized the urgent need to ensure the safety of foreign embassies and consulates, stating that preventing similar incidents must be a top priority.

On March 24, a Japanese Ground Self-Defense Force second lieutenant, Akihiro Murata, breached the Chinese Embassy in Japan by climbing over a wall while carrying a sword. The incident sparked significant concern over security at diplomatic facilities.

Japan’s government has responded to the incident only by expressing that it is “deeply regrettable,” a response that has drawn criticism from various quarters.
