Gate News message, April 24 — Nike announced Thursday that approximately 1,400 employees across its global operations team will be laid off, according to Fox News. The layoffs will primarily affect the company’s technology division, with impact across North America, Asia, and Europe, representing less than 2% of Nike’s total global workforce.

Chief Operating Officer Venkatesh Alagirisamy stated in a memo to employees: “This is not a new direction, but rather the next phase of work already underway.” The announcement comes as Nike continues to restructure its business through a series of workforce reductions.
