Progress in US-Iran Negotiations Remains Unclear; White House Plans for Vance to Attend Talks This Weekend, Iran Undermines Efforts and Proposes Five Ceasefire Conditions

BlockBeats News, March 26 — Recently, the U.S. has been signaling efforts to resume US-Iran talks, but Iran continues to undermine these efforts. A Trump administration official stated that the White House is working to arrange a meeting in Pakistan this weekend to discuss solutions to the Iran crisis. Vice President Pence may travel to Pakistan this weekend to hold talks with Iran. The U.S. also insists that it has not received any signals from Iran rejecting negotiations.

Meanwhile, Iran has taken a hardline stance, stating that a ceasefire and negotiations are currently impossible, and has laid out five conditions for a ceasefire: a complete halt to aggression and assassinations, guarantees that war will not be imposed on Iran again, war reparations, the end of all fighting on all fronts and resistance groups, and recognition of Iran’s sovereignty over the Strait of Hormuz. Iran also warned that supporting hostile forces to occupy Iranian islands could lead Iran to open a new front in the Strait of Mandeb.

According to PolyBeats monitoring, the probability of a US-Iran ceasefire this month is 14%, and the probability of a ceasefire before the end of next month is 50%.
