Russia Conducts Large-Scale Strike on Ukraine Defense Industry and Energy Infrastructure

Gate News message, April 16 — Russia’s Defense Ministry released a daily report stating that over the past 24 hours, Russian forces conducted a large-scale strike on Ukrainian defense industry facilities and energy infrastructure in response to what Moscow described as terrorist attacks on Russian civilian targets. The strikes employed ground-based, air-based, and sea-based long-range precision weapons as well as attack drones, targeting facilities used to produce cruise missiles and medium-range unmanned aircraft, as well as fuel and energy complexes serving Ukrainian forces.

Russian forces also struck 154 additional areas including container terminals, armored equipment storage sites, ground robotics test facilities, and temporary deployment positions of Ukrainian armed forces and foreign mercenaries. Russian air defense systems intercepted five guided aerial bombs and 270 fixed-wing drones. Ukrainian forces reported losses of approximately 1,055 personnel across all combat directions.
