Trump Criticizes UK Immigration Policy, North Sea Oil Strategy, and Starmer's Iran Decision

Gate News message, April 15 — US President Donald Trump has renewed his criticism of UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, claiming in a Sky News interview that the UK is being “invaded” by people from prisons, drug dealers, and mental institutions. Trump stated the UK-US “special relationship” has “been better” and expressed frustration over the UK’s refusal to join the conflict in Iran.

When asked about the relationship, Trump said: “When we asked them for help, they were not there. When we needed them, they were not there. When we didn’t need them, they were not there. And they still aren’t there.” He dismissed criticism of his immigration claims as “fake news,” insisting he had been “accurate.”

Trump also criticized the UK’s North Sea oil policy, calling it a “tragic mistake” in comments echoing his Truth Social post from April 14. He urged the UK to “drill, baby, drill” and exploit North Sea oil reserves, noting that Norway sells its North Sea oil to the UK at double the price. “Europe is desperate for Energy, and yet the United Kingdom refuses to open North Sea Oil,” Trump wrote, adding “AND, NO MORE WINDMILLS!”

On a positive note, Trump praised King Charles’ upcoming four-day visit to the US, describing the monarch as “a great gentleman,” “a great friend of mine,” and “a fantastic person.” Buckingham Palace confirmed King Charles and Queen Camilla will spend the first day of their visit in Washington with the US President.

Trump also criticized Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni after she called his comments on Pope Leo “unacceptable.” In an interview with Corriere della Sera, Trump said: “I’m shocked by her. I thought she had courage. I was wrong.”

Hong Kong as an Iran money-laundering hub? Wall Street Journal exposes $4.8 billion in underground fund flows

The Wall Street Journal reported that Hong Kong has become a key hub for the movement of Iranian funds. Using shell companies, it handles as much as $4.8 billion in oil proceeds each year and also helps procure military technology. Although U.S. sanctions keep escalating, Hong Kong still serves as an important base for Iran’s shadow banking, and it avoids U.S. financial system oversight through small banks and offshore transshipment. The Hong Kong government has refused to cooperate with unilateral sanctions, which has helped facilitate the flow of underground funds. The United States has therefore changed its strategy, trying to make it harder to set up shell companies to stop the flow of funds.
