UN Secretary-General Condemns Attack on French Peacekeeper in Lebanon

Gate News message, April 19 — UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres issued a statement on April 18 strongly condemning an attack in Lebanon that resulted in the death of a French United Nations peacekeeper.

Guterres stated that such attacks constitute serious violations of international humanitarian law and UN Security Council Resolution 1701, and may constitute war crimes. He called for an immediate end to attacks on peacekeepers, a prompt investigation into all incidents targeting UN personnel, and the prosecution and accountability of those responsible.
