Gate News. On April 11, according to CNN, a senior Pakistani source said that U.S. Vice President Vance played a key role in facilitating the U.S.-Iran talks to be launched in Islamabad, Pakistan. The source said it would likely take a few days to finalize a ceasefire agreement, and Pakistani officials hope to persuade Vance to extend his stay in Pakistan to help bring this about. In addition, a senior source from the Gulf region said that Iran’s trust in U.S. President Donald Trump’s envoy, Witkoff, is extremely low. Previously, Witkoff had led multiple rounds of talks with Iran, but those talks were all interrupted due to the United States’ military strikes against Iran. Witkoff is one of the members of the U.S. delegation participating in the Islamabad talks.
