Filecoin has activated its Fast Finality (F3) project on its mainnet via a smart contract, streamlining procedure and ensuring network stability. Power will be delegated to a smart contract to enable parameter adjustments and eliminate the need for a second network upgrade, without compromising stability and integrity. A consensus on the ideal settings will allow for F3 activation and implementation.

FIL Fast Finality (F3) is one of the most transformative upgrades in the FIL Consensus layer, which can shorten finality time, improve transaction confirmation speed and Cross-Chain Interaction experience, as well as enhance Node performance and storage efficiency, etc. The F3 team is conducting final stage preparation tests and providing monitoring dashboards for the community to track and monitor progress. Please note that bandwidth usage and the final determination of F3 may lag behind the progress of the chain. The Mainnetnv25/F3 activation is planned to be released in January 2025.

The fast finality of FIL (F3) will be deployed in the form of a Mainnet upgrade, which will shorten the finality time from 900 block height to only around 2, bringing breakthrough progress to the entire ecosystem, including faster transaction confirmation, enhanced Cross-Chain Interaction experience, more efficient lightweight user end, and streamlined storage provider data storage process. The F3 team is conducting final stage preparation tests on the Mainnet and reminding Node operators to pay attention to bandwidth usage while providing more visibility. It is expected to release the calibrated upgrade version and deploy F3 in early December 2024, and launch the Mainnet in January 2025.
