Recently, the market has been fluctuating nonstop, especially after the non-farm payroll data was released, causing even more intense volatility. Over the past couple of days, I reviewed some trades and want to share my understanding of order execution.

The most critical step before opening a position is to quantify the potential profit space. This is not based on intuition but on a concrete assessment of how much profit this wave of market movement can offer. Only when the potential is large enough is it worth building a position in batches. When the market truly moves, you'll have the opportunity to add to your position at different levels.

If you catch a decent trend, earning several times your investment is not surprising. If you're lucky enough to seize two such opportunities, achieving a twentyfold or more return is possible. But all of this depends on one thing: the space must be sufficient.

Conversely, if the initial profit potential is limited, even if you try to add to your position later, it’s easy to be pushed back by major resistance levels. Once the market pulls back, the profits you've worked hard to earn can be wiped out in minutes. Even more painfully, as the price gets closer to the risk zone, the risk of holding the position increases exponentially. Even if it doesn't reverse downward in the end, it can significantly compress your profits.

Therefore, trading is not just about choosing between long or short. There is a third strategy that is severely underestimated — doing nothing and patiently waiting. Sometimes, staying on the sidelines and waiting for a more certain opportunity is the most rational decision. The market won't run away, but opportunities will always come.
