Russia expands mining ban scope, implementing year-round restrictions in Buryatia and other regions starting in 2026

【BitPush】The Russian government has new moves. Starting from 2026, the cryptocurrency mining restrictions in the Republic of Buryatia and the Trans-Baikal Territory will be upgraded—from the current seasonal temporary ban to a year-round ban. This policy direction comes from a draft document by the government’s Electric Power Industry Development Committee.

It sounds quite strict, but this is not the harshest part. At least 10 regions across Russia have already implemented long-term mining bans, which will be in effect until spring 2031. In other words, for the next six or seven years, mining activities in these areas will have little to no opportunity.

The Russian Ministry of Energy’s stance is very clear—they are closely monitoring the electricity supply in these regions, and once issues are detected, they are ready to act immediately. In other words, the government’s control over mining will not loosen. For those doing mining business in Russia, migration plans might need to be put on the agenda.

Russia is serious this time, banning it completely for the year. Miners need to hurry and run away.

Russia is really going all out. The winter ban has been upgraded to a year-round ban, with a 6-year mining ban... miners will have to leave.

Russia is really cracking down; the six or seven-year ban has directly discouraged users.

Russia is serious about kicking people out. The full-year ban is directly in place, and there hasn't been a chance for six or seven years... Now the miners should be fleeing.

Russia is really going to cut ties with mining. The six or seven-year ban directly shuts it down. That's too harsh.
