Comcast NOW: Fresh Alternative in Prepaid Connectivity Market Combines Internet, Mobile, and Flexibility

Comcast is stepping into the prepaid services arena with a new product line called NOW, offering consumers flexible Internet, Mobile, and TV subscriptions without contracts, credit requirements, or long-term commitments. Available nationwide across Comcast service areas, NOW Internet and NOW Mobile represent a shift in how prepaid connectivity works—emphasizing reliability and affordability rather than limited capabilities.

Addressing Gaps in the Prepaid Market

The traditional prepaid internet and mobile sector has long centered on rock-bottom prices paired with compromised quality. Comcast’s NOW brand challenges this equation. “Our trials have shown that there is a need for a better prepaid product that provides a more consistent and reliable connection,” explained Bill Connors, President of Connectivity and Platforms at Comcast. NOW leverages Comcast’s infrastructure—including the nation’s largest landline network and 5G coverage—to deliver dependable connectivity at competitive rates.

NOW Internet: Reliability Meets Affordability

NOW Internet customers choose between 100 Mbps for $30 monthly or 200 Mbps for $45 monthly, with unlimited data and an included Xfinity gateway. The service boasts better than 99 percent reliability backed by Comcast’s established landline infrastructure. AI-driven monitoring detects and preemptively resolves disruptions before customers notice them. This approach directly contrasts with 5G home internet from cellular carriers, which NOW positions as less consistent and more expensive.

NOW Mobile: WiFi-First Strategy Changes the Game

A standout feature distinguishes NOW Mobile: integration with over 23 million WiFi hotspots nationwide. Recognizing that roughly 90 percent of smartphone data traffic runs over WiFi rather than cellular networks, NOW Mobile leverages this reality. When bundled with Xfinity or NOW Internet, unlimited mobile service starts at $55 monthly, with each additional line costing $25. For existing internet customers, this represents one of the market’s most competitive unlimited plans.

Complete NOW Portfolio and Pricing Breakdown

Beyond Internet and Mobile, Comcast rounds out the NOW ecosystem:

  • NOW TV: $20 monthly for 40+ live channels, FAST channels, and Peacock Premium
  • NOW WiFi Pass: $20 for 30 days of unlimited access to 23+ million hotspots
  • Bundle Savings: NOW Internet + NOW Mobile combinations deliver combined value starting at $55 monthly

Timing: Filling a Gap as ACP Winds Down

The rollout arrives as the government’s Affordable Connectivity Program faces discontinuation, with May marking the final month of partial subsidies ($14 credit). Millions of users will seek alternative cost-effective options. NOW Internet and Mobile supplement Comcast’s existing low-income initiatives—Internet Essentials and Internet Essentials Plus—while offering a new pathway for price-conscious consumers regardless of ACP eligibility.

Simplified Subscription Management

NOW subscribers manage their services entirely online via the Xfinity app or at physical Xfinity stores nationwide. The ability to pause or cancel subscriptions at will removes barriers to trying the service. This flexibility—combined with all-in monthly pricing and no credit checks—positions NOW as a fundamentally different prepaid experience than industry incumbents typically provide.
