Alpenglow 將交易最終確認時間從約12.8秒縮短到僅100-150毫秒，快約100倍。以Google搜尋平均約200毫秒的速度來比較，這比Google搜尋還要快，且遠快於Visa或Mastercard。
此次升級引入了兩個新組件，分別為 Votor 和 Rotor，取代了 Solana 現有的歷史證明（Proof-of-History）和 Tower BFT 系統。Alpenglow 將驗證者投票移到鏈外，降低成本並為用戶交易騰出空間。
亞秒級的最終確認時間將使去中心化交易所、遊戲和支付系統等實時應用能夠像傳統網絡服務一樣具有即時反應能力。簡而言之，它將使 Solana (SOL) 區塊鏈適用於幾乎所有可以想像的金融操作和交易。

SIMD-0266 是官方提案，旨在用 P-token 架構取代 Solana 現有的 SPL 代幣計劃。此升級有望將資源使用降低多達98%，相較於現行標準。

P-token 可以釋放出近12%的區塊空間，用於其他交易，直接提升 Solana 的實際吞吐量。目前約有10%的區塊計算單元被 Token 計劃指令佔用，因此此優化具有全網範圍的影響。
它不涉及堆分配、零拷貝數據存取，並且完全向後兼容，允許客戶端在不修改代碼的情況下進行替換。該提案目前正進行安全審核，並需驗證者治理批准後才能啟用。大約在2026年下半年，P-tokens 有望在 Solana 上線。
