Odaily星球日報訊 美國司法部宣布，加密交易平台Paxful Holdings Inc.因未建立有效反洗錢控制措施，被判支付400萬美元罰款。檢方指控該平台長期允許與詐騙、賣淫及人口販運相關的非法資金通過平台流轉，並從中獲利。
司法部表示，Paxful明知部分客戶資金來源涉及犯罪活動，仍繼續提供服務，並以反洗錢監管寬鬆作為吸引用戶的賣點。調查還指出，平台曾為包括Backpage在內的網站處理加密交易，該網站被認為被用於發布賣淫相關廣告，其中涉及未成年人。
數據顯示，2015年至2022年間，約1700萬美元等值比特幣通過Paxful錢包轉入相關網站，平台從中至少獲得270萬美元利潤。司法部稱，Paxful創始人甚至將由此帶來的業務增長稱為“Backpage效應”。
