Google suddenly launches AI office automation tool "Workspace Studio"

Google has officially launched “Workspace Studio,” an AI agent-building platform for everyday office automation, formally entering the productivity AI market.

The newly launched Google Workspace Studio is a platform where anyone, without coding knowledge, can build their own AI agents using only natural language. Its main feature is the automation of repetitive tasks across the entire Google Workspace suite, including Gmail, Docs, Sheets, Drive, Meet, and Chat. Google states that users only need to describe common tasks such as setting up email categorization, report writing, approval tracking, and project schedule management in natural language, and the platform will automatically implement and execute the corresponding workflows.

Workspace Studio is based on the latest version of the Gemini 3 model, which not only generates simple replies but can also flexibly handle multi-step tasks based on context. The generated AI agents can provide advanced features tailored to real business environments, such as retrieving documents, analyzing emails, understanding spreadsheets, and automatically performing follow-up actions. Farhaz Karmali, Google Workspace Ecosystem Product Director, emphasized in a blog post: “Now anyone can create AI agents that automate their own workflows in just a few minutes.”

The launch is closely related to the growing burden of repetitive tasks in the workplace. Google’s strategy is to empower non-technical employees within enterprises to take the lead in internal workflow automation, making automation no longer the exclusive domain of developers. The platform specifically supports team-shared agents, allowing standardized workflows to be expanded across the organization like documents, while also supporting the creation of custom agents using templates or just natural language prompts.

Early customers who participated in the Workspace Studio pre-test phase have already achieved substantial improvements in work efficiency. A typical case shows that Kärcher, a cleaning solutions company, reduced nearly 90% of manual operation time in product planning work after deploying multiple AI agents, cutting document processing from several hours to just a few minutes.

According to the latest statistics, companies that participated in the Alpha program processed over 20 million tasks through Workspace agents in the past month before the product’s official release. Application scenarios range from simple schedule reminders and meeting minutes to legal document processing, customer service responses, and travel request management in complex business environments.

Workspace Studio will be gradually rolled out to Google enterprise customers over the coming weeks. Google expects this product to be a turning point in its AI adoption strategy, as it creates the conditions for everyone to easily use AI in complex digital office environments.
