GEM drops over 1%, lithium mining stocks hit the daily limit, RMB breaks through the 6.84 level, Hengke Index falls nearly 1%, tech stocks broadly decline

Lithium mining concept stocks surge, with individual stocks hitting daily limit-ups. Previously, Zimbabwe’s Ministry of Mines and Mineral Development issued an emergency statement, announcing an immediate suspension of all ore and lithium concentrate exports.

On February 26, A-shares fluctuated downward, with the three major indices falling collectively in the early trading session. The ChiNext index dropped nearly 1%, while salt lake lithium extraction and lithium mining concept stocks exploded. Semiconductor and photovoltaic sectors experienced adjustments. Hong Kong stocks also fluctuated and declined, with the Hang Seng Tech Index falling nearly 1%, and most tech stocks declining.

In the bond market, treasury futures declined across the board. In commodities, most domestic futures rose, with lithium carbonate continuing to surge, up over 5%. In the forex market, offshore RMB broke through the 6.84 level, reaching a high of 6.8384.

Core market trends:

A-shares: As of press time, Shanghai Composite down 0.23%, Shenzhen Component down 0.35%, ChiNext down 1.14%.
Hong Kong stocks: As of press time, Hang Seng Index down 0.08%, Hang Seng Tech Index down 0.96%.
Bond market: Treasury futures mostly declined. As of press time, the 30-year main contract fell 0.29%, the 10-year main contract fell 0.10%, the 5-year main contract fell 0.06%, and the 2-year main contract fell 0.01%.
Commodities: Domestic commodity futures mostly rose. As of press time, lithium carbonate up over 5%, Shanghai tin up 4%, platinum, fuel oil, and manganese silicon up over 2%, Shanghai silver up over 1%, and stainless steel, rapeseed, Shanghai aluminum, alumina, rebar, hot-rolled coil, soybean meal, copper, coke, rubber, eggs, iron ore, and Shanghai gold also gained.

Superhard materials concept stocks oscillated and surged. Yellow River Flotation hit two limit-ups in three days. Sifangda rose over 10%, with Power Diamond, Wolder, Boyun New Materials, and Huifeng Diamond also rising.

On the news front, on February 23, Akash Systems announced that the world’s first NVIDIA GPU servers equipped with Diamond Cooling technology were officially delivered to India’s sovereign cloud service provider NxtGen AI Pvt Ltd. These products are based on the NVIDIA H200 platform and mark the first application of “diamond heat conduction technology” in commercial AI server systems, representing a material-level innovation breakthrough.

Offshore RMB against USD rose more than 100 points intraday, approaching the 6.84 level, reaching a high of 6.8421.

The power sector was active in the early trading session, led by green energy. Gannan Energy Holdings hit two consecutive limit-ups. Fuheng Power, Huayin Electric Power, Mindong Electric Power, Jinkai New Energy, and Southern Power Grid Energy also rose.

According to recent data from the National Energy Administration, the 2025 renewable energy grid connection operation status report indicates that by 2025, new installed capacity for renewable energy power generation nationwide will reach 452 million kW, a year-on-year increase of 21%, accounting for 83% of the country’s new power installation.

The ChiNext Index fell more than 1%. The decline was led by sectors such as photovoltaics, real estate, and fiberglass, with nearly 2,900 stocks declining in Shanghai, Shenzhen, and Beijing markets.

Lithium mining stocks led the rally at market open, with Jinyuan Shares hitting the daily limit on bidding. Keli Yuan, Jiangte Electric Motor, Zhongda Mining, Rongjie Shares, Guocheng Mining, and Tianhua New Energy all rose over 6%.

Shanghai Composite Index opened up 0.09%, ChiNext down 0.24%. Non-ferrous metals, chemicals, and steel sectors led gains, while stablecoins, servers, and CPO concept stocks were active; oil & gas, photovoltaics, and satellite navigation sectors weakened.
