Newegg's Hardware Trade-In Program: Upgrade Your CPU and PC Without Breaking the Bank
When it comes to keeping your gaming rig or workstation competitive, upgrading your processor doesn’t have to mean throwing away your old hardware—or your wallet. Newegg is making it easier than ever to refresh your setup with a new trade-in initiative that covers both individual CPUs and entire systems.
The CPU Trade-In Program Is Now Live
Think of your CPU as the heartbeat of your computer. It handles the heavy lifting of processing data and running everything from everyday applications to demanding games and creative software. As technology advances, users typically want to swap their aging processors for faster, more capable models that can handle next-generation software.
That’s where Newegg’s newly launched CPU Trade-In program comes in. The platform lets you trade your existing CPU for credit toward a brand-new processor, making upgrades more accessible. Building on the success of its GPU Trade-In Program—which launched in September 2023 and has already processed thousands of graphics card exchanges—this CPU initiative represents a significant expansion of Newegg’s hardware refresh ecosystem.
What makes this different from typical trade-in programs? You don’t have to go CPU-less during the transaction. Newegg’s process allows you to see your trade-in value upfront, purchase your new processor, and then mail in your old one. Your credit hits your account once the old hardware is received and evaluated, so your system stays operational throughout.
How the CPU Trade-In Process Works
Getting started is straightforward. Head to Newegg’s CPU product pages, check if your processor qualifies for trade-in, and view the credit you’d receive. Once you submit and get approval, Newegg sends you a free shipping label. Mail your old CPU in, and if it meets their standards, your new purchase gets a refund applied. If for any reason the trade doesn’t work out, you get your CPU back at no charge.
PC Trade-In: Going Beyond Individual Components
Beyond CPUs, Newegg has partnered with Intel to let customers trade in qualifying entire computers for Newegg gift cards valued up to $400 when purchasing a new Intel-powered PC. This promotion runs through August 11, 2024, and covers a wide range of devices: desktops, laptops, 2-in-1 convertibles, MacBooks, iPads, and Chromebooks, as long as they’re no older than 7 years from manufacture.
Part of a Larger Refurbishment Push
Both programs sit under the umbrella of Newegg Refreshed, the company’s refurbishment initiative. By enabling pre-owned components and systems to be professionally evaluated and resold, Newegg isn’t just helping customers access affordable upgrades—it’s reducing electronic waste and giving older hardware a second life in other users’ builds. It’s a win for your budget, your upgrade timeline, and the environment.
With thousands of graphics cards already cycling through the GPU Trade-In ecosystem, the CPU Trade-In program signals Newegg’s commitment to making hardware refreshes a seamless part of the upgrade experience.
