Flexnode Partners with Hyliion to Deploy Advanced Power Solutions for Next-Generation Data Center Infrastructure

Hyliion Holdings Corp. (NYSE: HYLN), a provider of sustainable electricity generation technology, has reached a significant milestone by entering into a non-binding Letter of Intent (LOI) with Flexnode, a digital infrastructure innovator. The agreement outlines Hyliion’s commitment to supply up to 10 KARNO generators with a combined capacity of 2MW to support Flexnode’s high-density computing operations, with first-phase deliveries expected to begin in 2025.

Transforming Data Center Power Generation

The partnership between Hyliion and Flexnode represents a strategic alignment aimed at addressing critical pain points in modern data center deployment. Energy availability, operational carbon footprint, and power expenses have long constrained the rapid expansion of computing facilities. By integrating Hyliion’s fuel-agnostic KARNO generators into Flexnode’s modular infrastructure platform, the collaboration enables unprecedented flexibility in deploying compute capacity without sacrificing environmental or financial objectives.

Flexnode’s universal building platform leverages liquid-cooling technology to create bespoke solutions for computing, storage, and networking. The platform’s core strength lies in its incremental deployment model—allowing organizations to scale infrastructure in alignment with actual demand growth. When paired with on-site power generation from KARNO systems, Flexnode customers gain the ability to establish data centers rapidly while maintaining operational efficiency and reducing their environmental impact profile.

Technology and Operational Advantages

The KARNO generator distinguishes itself through a linear generator architecture that operates across multiple fuel sources including hydrogen, natural gas, biogas, and propane. This fuel-agnostic design delivers economic efficiency while maintaining lower maintenance requirements and substantially reduced emissions compared to traditional power generation methods. Such versatility proves particularly valuable for organizations seeking to future-proof their infrastructure investments against volatile energy markets.

Thomas Healy, Founder and CEO of Hyliion, emphasized the strategic fit: “Data centers face mounting energy demands that require innovative solutions. The combination of our KARNO technology with Flexnode’s advanced infrastructure capabilities creates an entirely new paradigm for deploying efficient, modular computing facilities across diverse geographic locations.”

Andrew Lindsey, Flexnode’s co-founder and CEO, added: “Energy constraints and carbon considerations have traditionally limited our deployment velocity. This partnership with Hyliion enables our customers to overcome these barriers, accelerating their digital transformation initiatives while maintaining commitment to sustainability.”

Looking Forward

The execution of a binding purchase agreement will follow the non-binding LOI, signaling serious commercial momentum behind the partnership. For organizations evaluating next-generation data center solutions, this collaboration between Hyliion and Flexnode underscores how technological innovation can simultaneously address environmental responsibility, operational efficiency, and scalability challenges. The anticipated 2025 deliveries will mark an important validation of this integrated approach to distributed computing infrastructure.
