Ethereum hits a record of daily transactions on the last day of 2025
Source: PortaldoBitcoin Original Title: Ethereum hits record of daily transactions on the last day of 2025 Original Link: Ethereum’s blockchain reached a historic milestone on the last day of 2025 by setting a new record for daily transactions on the network. The previous two peaks were in 2021, during the NFT boom and decentralized finance applications (DeFi), and in August 2025.
According to specialized data, the seven-day moving average of transactions on the Ethereum network reached 1.87 million on December 31. On May 10, 2021, this figure was 1.61 million, and on August 9 of last year, it was 1.73 million.
Another important figure is the number of active addresses, which reached 728,904, the highest level since May 12, 2021. The Ethereum blockchain recorded the creation of 270,160 new addresses on December 31, marking the largest increase in a single day since the beginning of 2018.
Market analysts state that the increase was mainly driven by network upgrades that “drastically reduced fees, increased scalability, and attracted institutional participation through ETFs and real-world asset tokenization.”
Ethereum Updates
In May, the Ethereum network underwent the Pectra upgrade, the most ambitious technical overhaul since the 2022 “merge.” The system improved scalability, efficiency, and staking flexibility, as well as expanded storage capacity for layer 2 solutions (L2), reducing fees.
In December, the network activated its Fusaka upgrade, which optimizes how the network collects and verifies data from layer 2 chains. It introduced several proposals focused on improving efficiency and user experience, based on advances made in previous updates.
