Just recently launched an assault on Venezuela! Trump is also considering military action against Colombia, Mexico, and Cuba.
The U.S. military recently conducted a surprise raid and arrested Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro(Nicolás Maduro) and his wife Cilia Flores(Cilia Flores), and transported them to New York for trial. Now, President Trump has issued military threats against Colombia, Mexico, and Cuba, triggering global political and economic turmoil and an atmosphere of instability.
Starting with an airstrike on the Venezuelan capital: U.S. raid sparks outrage
The news of the U.S. raid on Venezuela and the capture of Maduro has shocked the world. Citing “drug trafficking” as the reason, the U.S. has taken Maduro to New York for trial, symbolizing that the U.S. can unilaterally enter other countries to carry out military actions without permission, rather than relying solely on sanctions or diplomatic pressure.
Trump stated: “The United States will manage this country until we can achieve a safe, appropriate, and cautious transition of power.”
This operation not only breaks previous boundaries of U.S. actions in South America but also evokes the tragedy of the 2003 U.S. invasion of Iraq, and foreshadows subsequent military threats against other countries.

Will there be action against Colombia? Trump: Sounds good
According to Reuters, on Sunday aboard Air Force One, Trump described Colombia as a “sick country,” and even accused President Gustavo Petro of manufacturing cocaine and exporting large quantities to the U.S. When asked if the U.S. would take military action against Colombia, he straightforwardly responded: “Sounds good.”
It is reported that Petro is an ally of Maduro and has previously criticized the U.S. for violating international law by unilaterally revoking visas, bringing the two back to the front lines of confrontation.
Trump names Mexico’s political situation as “controlled by drug cartels”
Meanwhile, on Saturday during an interview with Fox News, Trump also directed his criticism southward. He claimed that Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum(Claudia Sheinbaum) “does not govern the country,” but instead allows drug cartels to control everything.
He further revealed that he had repeatedly asked Mexico whether U.S. military assistance was needed to eliminate drug cartels(drug cartel), but was refused by Mexico.
Trump: Cuba is a failed state and will collapse on its own
Additionally, on Saturday, during a press conference discussing the Venezuela operation, Trump added: “Cuba is a failed country, and its people have suffered for many years. We should help those people and refugees.”
When asked if the U.S. would also take military action, he explicitly denied: “No, Cuba will collapse on its own. The current situation in Cuba is very bad.”
Now, with the arrest of Maduro, the Cuban government has lost a key ally.
Three countries jointly condemn: U.S. undermines regional peace
Colombia, Mexico, and Cuba have all condemned the U.S. Venezuela operation. The Cuban president called it “an unacceptable, crude, and barbaric kidnapping, a state-sponsored act of terrorism.”
The Mexican Foreign Ministry also stated: “Latin America and the Caribbean are regions built on mutual respect, peaceful resolution of disputes, and the prohibition of the use or threat of force. Therefore, any military action would seriously jeopardize regional stability.”
Escalating conflict in the U.S. and South America
From the Venezuela raid to threats against Colombia, Cuba, and Mexico, a tense front around Latin America is forming. Trump’s rhetoric about drug infiltration and regime failure is pushing the U.S. toward a more aggressive stance, provoking backlash from the Democratic Party and the international community.
In the coming weeks, whether the U.S. will undertake further military actions will determine if this South American crisis will escalate again.
