CoinVoice has learned that Telegram founder Pavel Durov posted on the X platform on January 7th to respond to recent FUD surrounding Telegram. Durov stated that Telegram has no connection to Russia in terms of capital structure, and that the recent $1.7 billion bond issuance was "completely free of Russian investors."

He further pointed out that the old bonds issued by Telegram in 2021 have been mostly repaid and do not pose a current risk. At the same time, he emphasized that bondholders are not equivalent to company shareholders, and that Telegram's sole shareholder remains himself. There is no direct relationship between bonds and equity.
