Trump says there are no plans to pardon FTX founder SBF
During an interview with The New York Times, U.S. President Donald Trump stated that there are currently no plans to pardon former FTX CEO Sam Bankman-Fried (SBF). SBF was sentenced to 25 years in prison in 2023 for multiple charges including embezzlement of customer funds and conspiracy, and is currently serving his sentence while pursuing an appeal. The report states that during the interview, Trump was asked about several potential pardon candidates, including former Venezuelan leader Maduro, former New Jersey Senator Menendez, musician Sean “Diddy” Combs, and others. The prospects of SBF’s pardon are considered slim, as he donated $5.2 million to the Biden campaign in 2020. Trump also defended his support for the crypto industry, saying “I received a large number of votes for supporting crypto, and I’ve gradually grown to like it.”
