EU MiCA Transition Period Countdown: 30% of French Crypto Companies Uncertain About Their Stance
【Chain News】The transition period for the EU’s new MiCA regulation will officially end on June 30th this year. As the deadline approaches, French regulators have begun to sound the alarm. The latest disclosures from the French Financial Markets Authority (AMF) reveal concerning details about the approximately 90 registered crypto companies nationwide — they are divided into three camps.
The first camp is the most proactive: 30% of companies have already submitted their MiCA license applications. These enterprises have demonstrated a proactive compliance attitude, including leading platforms like Coinbase, Circle, Revolut, and others that have already obtained authorization.
The second camp has made a choice: 40% of companies have explicitly decided not to apply, possibly due to business adjustments or other considerations. At least, their attitude is clear.
The most challenging is the third camp — the remaining 30% of companies have neither informed regulators of their plans nor responded to related inquiries. Stephane Pontoizeau, Executive Director of the Market Intermediaries Department at the AMF, admitted that this silence is cause for concern.
According to the regulations of the European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA), all companies not recognized under MiCA must initiate an orderly shutdown process before the deadline. There is little time left for those companies whose attitudes remain unclear.
