Han Wenxiu: Promote diversification of agricultural product imports and support the expansion of exports of advantageous specialty agricultural products

The Vice Chairman responsible for daily work at the Central Financial Office and Director of the Central Agriculture Office, Han Wenshou, wrote in the Learning Times that efforts should be made to promote coordination between agricultural product trade and production. As opening-up expands, agricultural production changes, and residents’ consumption upgrades, the factors affecting the operation of the agricultural product market are becoming more complex, and regulation is increasingly difficult. We need to improve the entire chain regulation mechanism from production to processing, circulation, storage, import and export, and consumption, strengthen policy support and coordination in areas such as prices, subsidies, and insurance, and establish a mechanism to ensure farmers’ income from grain cultivation. Strengthen market monitoring, early warning, and information release for agricultural products, coordinate market-based procurement and policy-based storage, and promote the stability of prices for important agricultural products like grain within a reasonable range. Properly coordinate the domestic and international markets, promote diversification of agricultural product imports, support expanding exports of advantageous and characteristic agricultural products, and cultivate agricultural enterprises with international competitiveness. At the same time, strictly crack down on smuggling of agricultural products according to law to protect the rights and interests of domestic producers.
