Tech Home, February 24 — OPPO ColorOS Design Director Chen Xi today posted a rant about Apple’s latest flagship iPhone 17 Pro, saying that when he needed to activate the company’s iPhone to check the IMEI, he was stuck at:
“Formal language vs. spoken language” — this step was baffling, with no idea what was loading, and the button showing as unavailable;
“Requires a 6-digit password” — again, no idea what was loading, the button appeared available but nothing happened when clicked;
“Bring the device close to log into iCloud account” — since activation requires login, he used another device to bring close, but if the logged-in iPhone accidentally exited the proximity process, the current phone’s process would freeze, requiring a restart;
“Enter iPad password” — an old iPad, forgot the password, got stuck.
Chen Xi admitted that he was shocked by the level of the iPhone 17 Pro, not just during startup but also with various daily glitches afterward, which are countless, showing a complete lack of attention to detail. He believes something must have changed internally within the company.
IT Home notes that Chen Xi also interacted with netizens, with one user asking him to evaluate their system. He responded, “Let others judge our products; I can’t be objective about my own.” Another user mentioned, “This is the current state of iOS 26, with lag when sliding from the first to the second home screen.”
Currently, iOS/iPadOS has been updated to beta 2 of version 26.4. This update not only makes a key step forward in underlying communication technology but also refines many details in the user interaction interface and system settings.
